Roots of breakdancing?

Saturday, May 24th, 2008 by nate

I don’t know why, but this video mesmerized me. Yes, it’s been ages, since I’ve posted anything, but I guess I’m using this place as a page to keep all my favorites.

Is the site slow?

Monday, February 25th, 2008 by nate

Man this site is slow! It’s really been driving me nuts. I can’t imagine actually wanting to browse this site for pleasure knowing how slow it is. I’m looking at getting a new host pretty soon. Apparently, the host I’m with right now has crappy database support, and this site runs software that relies heavily on php and a database. So anyway, I’m going to switch web hosts to a new one that has better database support. It’ll be a few months, but when i do, hopefully the site will run better! Ok, enough with the geek jargon.

Anyway, I’m in St. Louis right now on business. Sitting in bed getting ready to go to sleep, and didn’t have much to do. So I thought I’d update the site a bit. Actually, not much has changed since I wrote last. Maddie is smack-dab in the middle of the potty-training war. I believe that she is winning. She loses a battle here and there, but for the most part, troops are advancing and she will be queen of the porcelain throne before long.

So that’s it. Check out the brain cell bucket, I just added a cute video of a 3-year-old giving her rendition of Star Wars. Check it out. Later!

What is that smell?

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008 by nate

So tonight we’re all in Maddie’s bedroom getting ready to say our nightly prayers and put her down to sleep, when I notice this rank smell. I said, “Maddie, did you fart?” She said, “no!” I said, “What is that smell?!” And without missing a beat, Maddie said, “It’s my poop!” She had just finished pooping in her diaper, and had no reason to hide it! Just thought you all would like to know that.

Happy New Year!!!!

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008 by nate

Hey guess what. I’ve got enough people bugging me about updating the website, that I’m actually going to do it! Not much, as I’m at work, I only have a few minutes, and don’t have many pictures at my disposal, but I thought I’d at least give a little update as to what’s been going on for the last few months.

Well, Ryan is growing like a weed. We’re pretty sure he’s going to catch up to Maddie’s size in less than a year. He’s getting big, and he’s oh so cute! Here’s the only picture of him I’ve got handy:

Ryan

But anyway, Christmas was great. Maddie was so excited, but the great part about it was that she still slept in till after 9:00! We had time to get up and get showered before she woke up. We had our own little Christmas at home, and spent most of the rest of Christmas day with the Langs and the extended Lang family. It was great to see everyone! I’m not even going to begin naming any names as to who was there, because I KNOW I’ll forget someone. We also made a short visit to the Packers, who were busy getting ready to head to Cedar City for Jaron’s wedding reception.

Speaking of Jaron, he got married! Congratulations Jaron! We would like to officially welcome Vanessa into the family. They were married on December 28th. They also had a reception here in Layton so those of us that were too lazy to drive to Cedar City could attend. It was beautiful. Thanks to Camille who took charge of most of the arrangements. The week of Christmas, we spent most of our time either playing games at the Lang’s, or doing wedding stuff with the Packers. It was lots of fun.

The kids were a bit sick on New Year’s eve, so we actually left the Lang’s around 9:30. We were in bed by around 11:00. I think that’s the first time in a long time that I haven’t stayed up to bring in the New Year!

But we’re doing great. We’re all going through a bit of a cold right now, but slowly getting over it. It’s back to work and regular life. After such a nice long holiday, going back to work is never fun. And I got FAT. Honestly, I have got to get back to working out. I’m positive that I’m going to break 200 pounds before spring comes if I don’t do something soon. I was riding my bike to work for the last couple weeks of fall, but it just got too cold to keep going.

Anyway, I hope this satisfies anyone who has been looking for the down-low on the packers. That’s all I got for now. We just had some family pictures done, so I’ll try to get those up soon.

By the way, SEASON 4 OF LOST IS STARTING ON JANUARY 31ST!!!! If you can’t tell, we’re big Lost fans.

Just a few updates…

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007 by nate

Alright, it’s been like a millennium since I’ve posted anything out here. Well, with the addition of a second child, I guess life kind of just goes that way. Plus, I think for every minute I spend on the computer, Dixie’s stress level goes up a notch. So needless to say, I haven’t had a whole lot of time on my hands. Since the last time I’ve written, quite a bit has happened. For one thing, Ryan was born! Ryan Allen Packer. He was born on June 28th, and is growing like a weed. Much faster than Maddie! I’m sure he’s going to catch up to her weight in no time. Course, he started out about twice her weight too. Anyway, he smiles a lot, cries a lot, poops a lot, and sleeps a lot, during the day. Doesn’t sleep a lot at night. We’re trying to improve that, and he is doing a little better.

Maddie has started going to my mom’s singing class, Positive Notes, and is absolutely loving it. We tried to start potty training, but she didn’t do so well at first, so we kind of eased off a bit and are trying to let her get into it at her own pace.

I started riding my bike to work, mostly to get rid of this gut hanging over my belt, but it also helps to save a little on gas. Sadly I didn’t get started earlier in the summer, and it’s now getting pretty cold. But I’m still going currently, and we’ll see how far into the Winter I can go before I decide it’s too freaking cold to ride at 6 o’clock in the morning. My commute is about 14 miles round trip, so that’s a fair amount of exercise coming from a guy who was getting absolutely none prior to this.

Dixie has got her hands full with the two kids, who seem like four. Dont’ know how she does it, but somehow she manages. She spends all her time taking care of them, and cleaning up after them. Seems like the only time we get to really spend together is when we sit in front of the TV to catch a show here and there.

Well that’s about it. I don’t have any pictures on me right now, but as soon as I get a few more minutes, I’ll put some pictures of Ryan up. I’ll leave you with a quote of the day:

“The problem with ignorance is, it picks up confidence as it goes along.”

Don’t Buy Stuff You Can’t Afford!

Saturday, June 9th, 2007 by nate

I usually reserve this kind of stuff for the brain cell bucket, rather than cluttering up the front page with dumb videos, but this one was so good, I had to make sure you all see it. This is a great Saturday Night Live clip for any of you out there with debt problems. Puts it nice and simple for those of us who are financially challenged. Enjoy!

Dyan got painted on!

Dyan gave me this picture of her lying down on the tennis court. Looks just like she got rolled over by the painter! Good one Dyan.

A corpse rises from the grave!

Saturday, May 19th, 2007 by nate

Well, not literally. But this dude is leaving the grave shift behind forever! You heard me right, I got a new job. For those of you who don’t know, I work at Hill Air Force Base as a civilian contractor, and for the last two years, have whittled away the night hours staring at a computer screen. I’ve been looking for a new job pretty much the whole time, while not very proactively I’ll admit. But anyway, I obtained a day position here at the same place I’m working now, actually for a contractor I worked for a couple years back. So now I get to sleep at night like everyone else, I’ll work Monday through Friday, and have regular hours! Needless to say, Dixie was ecstatic when she found out, as was I.

I start June 1st, and June 4th they’re sending me to Atlanta for some training. I had a scout camp planned with the teachers quroum that week, but didn’t have much of a choice. I was bummed that I wouldn’t be able to go, but now that I have Friday nights off, that will give me many more opportunities to go on other campouts and activities with the boys. Oh yeah, for those of you that don’t know, I’m an assistant Varsity coach with the teachers quorum, so if I ever mention “the boys”, you’ll know who I’m talking about.

So anyway, as for an update on the baby, he’s doing fine. Actually doing better than Maddie was at his age. Dixie is really feeling this pregnancy though. Much tougher than the last one. She’s constantly tired, and I feel terrible that I’m going to have to leave her for a whole week so close to her due date. But all in all, with the new job, spirits are high, and we’re doing great. I’ve been trying to get more excercise, been out riding my bike, and hoping to make a real habit of it. Perhaps I can get rid of this gut I’ve collected sitting at a desk all night long for two years. And it is so much easier when the weather is so nice. I LOVE SUMMER!

May the Fourth be With You

Friday, May 4th, 2007 by nate

I’ve been slacking terribly on this site. Partly because not much has been happening, mostly because I’m lazy. However, we have had a little update on the baby’s progress. Unfortunately, the little tyke is following in his older sister’s footsteps. It seems that Dixie’s placenta starts to misbehave in the later stages and starts restricting blood flow to the baby. It’s not terribly serious, but in Maddie’s case, it did cause her to stop growing and they suspect she might have even started losing weight. Because of Maddie’s problems, the doctor has been keeping a close eye on this one, and we caught it early. Unfortunately, we seem to know as much about the placenta as we do about the bermuda triangle, so there’s not a whole lot they can do to prevent it. So we may be looking at a slightly early pregnancy with this one. Maddie was only a couple weeks early, so it shouldn’t be too bad, but it may interfere with a scout campout I’ve got planned June 4th through the 9th dang it! Oh well, he’s worth it.

There’s not a whole lot besides that going on. I’m still working at night, still trying to get out of it. Dixie’s still busy with the primary, and I’m still busy with the young men. With the nicer weather, I’ve finally been able to get out on my bike and oh it feels nice. That is of course until the weather decided to take a dump on us yesterday. Maybe I’ll throw some recent pictures up when I get a minute. Oh, and if you’re a Star Wars fan with a lisp, today is a special day for you. “May the fourth be with you!” :-)

New Pictures in the Brent Packer Family album

Friday, April 20th, 2007 by nate

Ayden turned 1 year old a bit ago, and Shalamar sent me some pictures of his birthday party. I’ve added them to the Brent Packer Family album. After adding them, I realized that half of them are of Maddie, so I think some time I may remove those ones and put them under the Maddie album. But anyway, here are a few of the pictures I’ve added to the album, or you can just click here to go straight to the album.
